ion milled coffee bean
This green coffee bean was sliced and mechanically flattened, then slope-cut using the broad-beam ion mill. The low-magnification SEM image shows the original mechanically prepared surface on the right, the ion-milled region in the center, and significant ion-beam damage beyond the prepared section.
