Calendar & Lab Availability

Use this calendar to find and register for instrument training, see when a Breakerspace Lab Assistant will be on duty for drop-in project support, and check for scheduled activities that make the instrument lab unavailable for ordinary instrument reservations.

Looking for a particular instrument? Individual instrument reservations are managed separately. An open period on this calendar does not guarantee that an instrument is available; check individual instrument availability in LibCal.

Calendar

Calendar entries use these text labels so their meaning does not depend on color:

  • Training: Open the event to review the instrument, prerequisites, available places, and registration details.
  • Lab Assistant on duty: A Breakerspace Lab Assistant will be present for drop-in project questions and ad-hoc support. These hours are not a substitute for required instrument training or reservations.
  • Reserved activity or availability notice: Teaching, group activities, maintenance, or other scheduled work blocks individual instrument reservations across the lab for the listed period, even when the activity itself uses only one area. To request the lab for teaching or an organized activity, follow the whole-lab reservation instructions.

Understanding Lab Availability

The Breakerspace instrument lab and lounge are normally open from 8 AM to midnight, seven days/week. Lab Assistant on duty entries identify times when drop-in support is available; they are not the lab’s opening hours.

During a listed reserved activity or availability notice, individual instrument reservations are unavailable across the lab. An event may identify where the activity will physically take place, but an unoccupied area should not be treated as available for independent instrument use. Even when no general availability notice appears, use the individual instrument calendar before planning independent work.
